IV DRIP THERAPY

WHAT IS IV DRIP THERAPY?

IV Drip Therapy is the delivery of essential vitamins and minerals into the system via and IV bag into the veins. This delivery method means that the vitamins and minerals bypass the gut and delivers straight into the bloodstream meaning this is an efficient and effective way of gaining much needed nutrients.

IV therapy is a delivery method for fluids and medication. “IV” stands for intravenous, which means the fluid is administered through the veins. The fluid that contains vitamins and minerals or medication is delivered via an IV drip or injection into the vein, which allows the therapy to move quickly through your bloodstream. Direct IV insertion typically delivers medication faster than oral administration.

It is a great way to boost energy levels, rehydrate and generally boost wellbeing almost immediately.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The entire session will last approximately 45 minutes. The vitamins are delivered into the system intravenously meaning that it will bypass the digestive system for maximum absorption and faster effectiveness.

HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS LAST?

Based on your answers, we will discuss if the treatment is best for you and will run through any concerns you may have.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COME IN?

We will sanitise the area and administer the IV into the arm, the appointment will take approximately 45 minutes. During this time, you are able to read a magazine, knit or even nap.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

To prevent additional bruising and bleeding around the injection site, we recommend avoiding taking aspirin and any anti-inflammatory medications, please check with your doctor if you take blood thinners before stopping any medication.

Arnica supplements can be taken pre-emptively and following the procedure to reduce discomfort and bruising.

Please avoid working out or going to the gym ahead of the appointment to avoid having flushed skin which can increase bruising potential due to the blood being at the surface of the skin.

We recommend that you eat something and hydrate before therapy as this will aid in locating the veins to administer the IV and it will also aid in blood sugar levels which will avoid nausea and lightheadedness.

Avoid taking over-the-counter anti-histamine or decongestants the morning of your appointment as this can lead to your veins contracting, making it harder to administer the IV.

Your comfort is key, so please dress comfy for your treatment and bring something to entertain you (your phone with headphones, a book, knitting, etc).

DO I NEED ANY DOWNTIME?

After your treatment, you should be able to return to your normal ‘light’ activities, including driving and getting back to work.

We recommend that you avoid alcohol or any strenuous activities for 48 hours after your treatment.  Avoid touching the injection site for 6 hours following the treatment, you can place a cold pack on the injection site to avoid swelling and bruising.

Avoid any blood thinning medication and please consult your doctor beforehand if you are taking any prescribed medication.

Drink lots of water to aid flushing out of the toxins.

ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO BE AWARE OF?

There may be a dull ache for approximately 1 hour following the treatment at the injection site. Also, please expect some swelling or bruising around the injection site.

You may also feel generally unwell, and have a headache or diarrhoea and body aches, this is normal and will subside shortly.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

Depending on your requirements, you may need varying amounts of sessions, most people will see an improvement after one drip but it can take up to a month for you to fully feel the effects.

WHO CAN'T HAVE IV DRIP THERAPY?

Please consult your doctor if you are taking long-term medication to ensure there are no contraindications.

If you suffer from kidney or heart conditions, your body may not be able to process high levels of vitamins at once so you may not be suitable to have this treatment.
