B12 INJECTIONS

WHAT ARE B12 INJECTIONS?

We can all become deficient in B12, which is an essential vitamin, especially if you are on a special diet, are pregnant/breastfeeding, over a certain age, smoke or drink heavily or have certain health conditions. Low levels of vitamin B12 can lead to a variety of illnesses and you can experience fatigue or low mood, this is because B12 is involved in the production of energy and mood-regulating chemicals.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The entire session will last 15 minutes. Vitamin B12 will be injected intramuscularly meaning that it will bypass the digestive system for maximum absorption and faster effectiveness.

HOW LONG DO B12 INJECTIONS LAST?

As the B12 is injected and bypasses the gut, it is the most effective and fastest way for your body to absorb the Vitamin B12. Your body will begin to create new red blood cells within 48 - 72 hours and this will leave you feeling re-energized. As most people are very low in B12 it is recommended that you return for a top-up injection every month.

WHAT PROBLEMS DO B12 INJECTIONS TARGET?

You will find that you feel more energized following your injection and there are so many more benefits such as:

  • Healthier immune and cardiovascular systems.

  • Improved sleep.

  • Improved moods can help to reduce feelings of stress and depression.

  • Reduced allergy reactions.

  • Boosted energy.

  • Reduced or less severe headaches.

  • Helps fight anemia.

At your treatment appointment, we will have a 15 minute pre-treatment discussion where we will ask you for the details of your medical history and the medication that you are taking, we will also discuss any treatments that you have had previously and what you would like to achieve with your treatment. Based on your answers, we will discuss if the treatment is best for you and will run through any concerns you may have.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COME IN?

We will sanitise the area pre-injection and administer the B12 injection, the appointment will take approximately 15 minutes.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

To prevent additional bruising and bleeding around the injection site, we recommend avoiding taking aspirin and any anti-inflammatory medications, please check with your doctor if you take blood thinners before stopping any medication.

Arnica supplements can be taken pre-emptively and following the procedure to reduce discomfort and bruising.

Please avoid working out or going to the gym ahead of the appointment to avoid having flushed skin which can increase bruising potential due to the blood being at the surface of the skin.

DO I NEED ANY DOWNTIME?

After your treatment, you should be able to return to your normal ‘light’ activities, including driving and getting back to work.

We recommend that you avoid alcohol or any strenuous activities for 48 hours after your treatment.  Avoid touching the injection site for 6 hours following the treatment.

Avoid any blood thinning medication and please consult your doctor beforehand if you are taking any prescribed medication.

You don't need to take any B12 supplements alongside this treatment.

ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO BE AWARE OF?

There may be a dull ache for approximately 1 hour following the treatment at the injection site. Also, please expect some swelling or bruising around the injection site.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

If you aren't experiencing any of the symptoms described above you may only need a top-up every 2 - 3 months, however if you are experiencing any of the symptoms, a top-up may be required sooner.
